Sunspots, Age Spots & Pigmentation

Are dark spots and blemishes ruining your appearance?

Occasionally, unwanted dark spots, blemishes and freckles can appear on the face, neck, arms and hands. If they become unsightly or annoying, many types can be significantly diminished or removed completely using intense pulsed light or IPL.

TREATMENT TIPS

If you wear makeup to your appointment, we’ll need to remove it before your treatment.

Avoid Retinol, active ingredients, and at-home peels for at least 7 days prior to your treatment.

Avoid Botox or filler treatments, or resurfacing for at least 2 weeks prior.

Do not apply makeup 1-2 days after your service.

Include sunscreen in your daily routine to maintain results.

Avoid acids, Retinols, harsh scrubs, and exfoliants until you’re fully healed, about 5-10 days after treatment.

You’ll likely experience noticeable redness, and possibly swelling, afterwards. A cool compress or cooling masque will alleviate the swelling quicker.

Avoid products and sun exposure for the first couple of days after your treatment.

Avoid working out or any activity where you break a sweat for 1-2 days after  treatment.

FAQ

How many treatments are necessary?

Typically we find that three to six treatments will even out your skin tone and improve your complexion.

Are the results immediate?

Immediately after treatment, you may notice redness and warming of the skin. Then in the next 24 to 48 hours some of the superficial dark spots may darken even more. Then within the next one to two weeks, these spots will either fade or flake off, leaving a more even complexion and skin tone.

Will the dark spots come back?

Yes, unfortunately it is likely they will come back, especially with extensive sun exposure. However, many women notice a significant reduction in dark spots and can maintain their complexion with regular touch up treatments.

Is it safe for the “mask of pregnancy?”

No. We do not recommend trying to treat the “mask of pregnancy” because in some cases it may actually darken the pigmentation.
